Toyota Kluger

Toyota Kluger KX-S 2008Toyota's new-generation Kluger has topped the sales charts for the first time in its segment, according to official figures released today.

The sales results show Australians bought 1404 Klugers in February, giving it victory by more than 100 deliveries over the long-term segment leader.

Launched in August, new Kluger has been selling at triple the rate of the previous model.

Kluger's success gave Toyota three of the four most popular SUVs in February with RAV4 and Prado also in high demand.

Toyota had five of the top eight best-sellers for the month of February - Corolla (4191), HiLux (3325), Yaris (2280), Aurion (1855) and Camry (1723).

Corolla retained its position as Australia's best-selling vehicle so far this year with total sales exceeding 8000 - or more than 500 ahead of its nearest rival.

Toyota sold a February industry record of 20,703 vehicles, up 11.3 per cent on the same month last year.

Toyota Kluger KX-S 2008After two months, Toyota has a lead of more than 15,000 sales over its nearest rival and more than 21,000 over the third-placed company.

Toyota Australia's senior executive director David Buttner said buyers were recognising the appeal and value of vehicles across the company's range.

"Customers are buying Toyota vehicles in record numbers because we can offer the freshest line-up in the industry from the country's leading dealer network," Mr Buttner said.
